April 2025

President's Message

April has arrived – blowing in with the usual rain!

The chapter hosted a successful Annual Meeting in March. A big thank you to Maritz Corporation for accommodating us. We reviewed our accomplishments for 2024, and we looked at 2025, including introducing you to our fabulous Board! Part of the meeting was devoted to hearing from you, the members, to see what you feel we should focus on for the coming year. Even if you were unable to attend this meeting, your board is always interested in your ideas. Just send us an email, find us on the ‘Board of Directors’ page under ‘About’!

Are you, or a family member, pursuing study in a field related to Project Management? PMIMSL Scholarship!!!

Your chapter, PMIMSL, is offering a scholarship of $1500 to help defray the cost of education for a student studying in the Project Management field! Preference will go to a PMIMSL member or to a family of a member of the chapter. Check out this opportunity and apply before June 1, 2025!

Looking ahead, we have two great events planned for April:

Wednesday, April 9 is our first ‘After Hours’ Meeting since 2020. This will be held at Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Sign up, then stop by after work for complimentary soft drinks and appetizers (alcoholic beverages available for purchase) and to network with fellow PMs. AND hear Paul Steensland, Reference Librarian, Career Transition Specialist & Public Speaker, tell us about Library Resources for the PM – from helping with the job interview, to developing critical PM skills, and gaining insights into industry trends and market demands to enhance your career! Who knew the library could help us this much???

On Wednesday, April 30, we will hold (another first) a dinner meeting at the Clayton Plaza Hotel! The topic for this meeting will be: ‘Personal Brand Management for Project Leaders’ led by our very own Tyler Norman, MBA, PgMP, PMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-PBA, PMI-PMOCP; Director, Strategic Supply Chain Programs with Scholastic, Inc. Tyler is a very engaging speaker, with a lot of experience speaking for PMI events, such as PMXPO2025! I am excited to hear Tyler speak!

These events will earn you one PDU each. And, as we are always working to support our members, if you are interested in being a speaker for a chapter event, reach out to Kelly Bottini, VP Programs!

We are looking for volunteers!

We cannot hope to meet the needs of you, our members, without YOUR help. We are adding to our volunteer postings weekly, so there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer! Most of these volunteer roles are for a variable amount of time. We list some of the openings on our webpage under ‘Get Involved’. However, to apply, you must use the VEP Platform. If you are interested, I recommend making sure your VEP (Volunteer Engagement Platform) ‘Profile’ is up to date! Then, go to: ‘Find an Opportunity’, and under ‘Chapter’ select ‘Metropolitan St. Louis’. This will pull up all of our current openings. Select what you are interested in, fill out the application and we’ll be in touch!

Keep checking the website: PMIMSL.org: we are constantly updating as we go forward. Rebuilding is slow, but we hope to increase information each month going forward.

Stay tuned – we have a lot to offer in 2025, including a Professional Development Day (PDD).

We are excited to have you along for the ride!
