3) How did you hear about and become involved in PMI?
- I heard about PMI from a co-worker while working on the GDSS contract. I was already performing project management work and decided to pursue my Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. I completed my MBA in Project Management and studied a couple of PM courses through Udemy which all helped to prepare for the test. After getting my certification I wanted to find a way to be more involved besides attending the MSP-PMI meetings. I saw an open position listed for a PMI Military Contact Lead. I applied and was accepted for the position. This role has been rewarding; recently I sat on a resume writing panel for Hands on Your Career and was able to provide insight to transitioning military members on PMI and how to document and get certified for the work they have already achieved.
