Bocce ball and the photo booth were just a few of the fun activities at the annual volunteer appreciation event, held on Dec 4, at Brennans Work and Leisure. This event honored all PMI Metro St. Louis Chapter members who have volunteered throughout the year. The Chapter organization would not be possible without the support and dedication from its many volunteers. Not only were those who have served on PMIMSL committees recognized, but also those who have organized, managed and led many of the exciting professional development and networking events in 2019.

Trish Rose-Sandler, Laurie Schneider, Jamie Schultz, Donna Houseman, Ananda Jayaram, Paul Jimenez, Terry Lee, Jody Rouggly, Shonitra Bradshaw, Terry Farwell, and Kelly Bottini were volunteers who were nominated for Volunteer of the Year, for their significant contributions.

Jamie Schultz, who has served as the Manager of Social Media on the Communications Team was presented an award for Volunteer of the Year. By Implementing the 2019 Women in Project Management series on social media, Schultz significantly increased engagement and followers. She led engaging social media management across three separate platforms seamlessly, while increasing social media engagement from 4,000 total from 2018 to over 90,000 in 2019.

The Communications Team, Membership and Volunteers teams were nominated for Volunteer Team of the Year. The Communications team was selected as the Volunteer team of the year because of its achievements including the new website transformation and MG2 Implementation, and the various social media campaigns such as Women In Project Management (WIPM) and the Emerging Leaders series.

The Metro St. Louis Chapter is an organization run entirely by volunteers. There are a wide variety of volunteer opportunities available. Volunteering offers a wide variety of benefits including developing professional leadership skills, gaining peer recognition by being involved in Chapter activities, having the opportunity to advance into a Chapter Leadership role, and by earning Professional Development Units (PDUs) that can be applied towards the 3-year PMP PDU requirement. To see a list of volunteer opportunities available and to apply as a volunteer, visit the Volunteer Relationship Management System (VRMS) on the PMI site and search for Metropolitan St. Louis Chapter.
