Presidents Monthly Letter - March

PMI Metro St. Louis Monthly Newsletter for March 2026

Dear Chapter Members,

March is here! The weather is warming up, and your board is hard at work planning events for you for the year! On February 11, we held our Annual Membership Meeting at the Anheuser-Busch Lager Room. We had 71 members sign up for an evening of networking and sharing. We talked to our members about accomplishments for 2025 and our thoughts for 2026. Your board then listened to your ideas – what you, our members, would like to see in 2026. This was not your only opportunity to talk with the board; we welcome you reaching out at any time with questions and suggestions! One highlight of the evening was a photo ‘op’ with Bandit, one of the Clydesdales at the brewery!

Important Alert: Beware of Scams Posing as Our Chapter

Dear PMIMSL Members,

I hope this message finds you well. I want to bring an important matter to your attention to ensure everyone’s safety and preparedness. Recently, there have been reports within professional communities of scams where individuals impersonate organizations, including chapter leadership, requesting money or sensitive information.

Please be vigilant for any suspicious emails, messages, or calls claiming to be from our chapter that ask for financial contributions, urgent payments, or personal details. Our chapter will never send out unsolicited requests for money or sensitive information without proper context and official communication channels.

May already! And our membership has reached 1,582 members!

On Wednesday, April 9 we held our first ‘After Hours’ Meeting since 2020, at Schlafly Bottleworks in Maplewood. We had a great crowd and learned about Library Resources from Paul Steensland, Reference Librarian, Career Transition Specialist & Public Speaker. This was a fun evening of networking and learning! Stay tuned to our website for future events like this!

On Wednesday, April 30, we had another first (since 2020), our dinner meeting at the Clayton Plaza Hotel, with over 60 members registered! The speaker was our very own Tyler Norman, MBA, PgMP, PMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-PBA, PMI-PMOCP; Director, Strategic Supply Chain Programs with Scholastic, Inc., talking about our: Personal Brand Management for Project Leaders. Again, a great evening of learning and networking! These are great events – with more to come!

April has arrived – blowing in with the usual rain!

The chapter hosted a successful Annual Meeting in March. A big thank you to Maritz Corporation for accommodating us. We reviewed our accomplishments for 2024, and we looked at 2025, including introducing you to our fabulous Board! Part of the meeting was devoted to hearing from you, the members, to see what you feel we should focus on for the coming year. Even if you were unable to attend this meeting, your board is always interested in your ideas. Just send us an email, find us on the ‘Board of Directors’ page under ‘About’!

June 2025

In May, the PMIMSL Chapter reached a total of 1,603 members!

IMPORTANT CHAPTER BUSINESS!

We have updated our chapter bylaws to the latest PMI template. While there are not many changes, the chapter members must review the proposed bylaws before we can vote on them. Please check out the DRAFT Updated Bylaws and let us know if you have any questions. We hope to vote on the bylaws at the same time we elect our new officers for 2026-2027.

March President's Message

04 March 2025 at 09:00PM

PMI Metropolitan St. Louis members:

March already – and spring is just around the corner! Which is good, as the weather won in February, forcing us to reschedule the Annual Membership Meeting.

This was a tough decision, but the safety of our members is our top priority! The good news is, we plan to go ahead with the meeting in March! Same time: March 19th  at 6:00 PM; same place: Maritz Corporation – thanks to Maritz for accommodating us! If you registered for February, you are all set for March – you need do nothing!

AND you can still sign up for the Annual Membership Meeting on March 19! This is the time we recap for our members all we did in 2024 and our plans for 2025. This is your opportunity to meet your 2025 Board and tell them what you would like to see happen with the Chapter. We will take your ideas and see how (and if) we can work them into the plans for 2025 and beyond. You will also have the opportunity to talk to us about volunteering for the chapter, because…

February 2025

Jan2025 Board Photo05 February 2025 at 08:10PM

We discussed what we wanted to accomplish and what we felt was realistic to tackle. We know our members are asking for more in-person events. This is a priority! We have had inquiries about certification training. We will be talking more about this in the near future! We took quality time to meet as teams in our various areas, to get to know each other a bit better. To find out how each member can help every other member of the team to offer the best value to you, our members! We know we exist to serve you – but we also know we need YOUR help to be successful!

January 2025 President's Message

TL 01 January 2025 at 08:00PM

As I came off the PMIMSL Board at the end of 2013, I began as the Region 6 Mentor, working with the Boards in 26 Chapters in our Region of 8 states. This was challenging and exciting, and I learned more about PMI on a global level. When that role was over, I served on the Chapter Insight Team (CIT) – another global role, this time acting as the ‘voice of the chapter’ to PMI. Even though this role began about the same time as Covid, which limited my in-person interactions; I enjoyed supporting the Chapters and various Chapter initiatives within PMI. I also worked on other PMI projects: creating coursework for Chapter Leaders, managing conflict within chapters and working on the chapter conflict process, and possibly my favorite: judging various awards program candidates! All of this gave me a better understanding of what PMI is all about and the opportunities open to our members.
